Fracking

Fracking Ohio

Best Water Bottles for hikers

One of the things I worry about (I’ve got a long list) is the unknown environmental damages that fracking can cause. (If you are chuckling to yourself that I just said fracking–I’m not using Battlestar Galactica jargon.)

You can read more about fracking at The Nature Defense Council’s website. http://www.nrdc.org/search.asp?cof=FORID%3A11&ie=UTF-8&q=ohio+epa+fracking&cx=001024953138106184952%3Alevppyfplwy&hq=-inurl%3Ahttps&t=iframe&sa.x=3&sa.y=9

And you can check-out the US EPA’s site at http://www.epa.gov/hydraulicfracture/. The US EPA is also studying whether or not fracking has caused well water contamination.

Besides the possible water contamination there is also the problem with earthquakes as reported by several new agencies: Here is Reuters News Service version: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/04/us-earthquake-ohio-idUSTRE80302220120104

If you live in Ohio you’ll defiantly want to make your voice heard about fracking up Ohio. (Okay, that time I did use it as a Galactica verb).

The window of opportunity on commenting on the Oho EPA draft of Fracking in Ohio closes January 13. Comment here: http://www.epa.state.oh.us/portals/47/nr/2011/december/Wetland-StreamImpactsAtShaleGasWellSites.pdf.
