I want you to stop right now and think.
When was the last time you reached a goal and didn’t immediately move the goal posts on yourself?

How can you achieve happiness if you never reach your goal because you are constantly moving the goal posts?
We do it all the time.
Check out my favorite TED Talk on that topic.
We rarely stop and savor the little things.
We tend to think, “If I just have _________, I’ll be happy.”
If I just: Make more money. Drive a nicer car. Have a bigger home. Have a new kitchen. Go on world-wind vacations.
The list goes on.

If you are thinking this is off topic for a hiking blog,
you
are
wrong
.
We are so fixated on the destination
— if I can just get to ________, I’ll be happy —
that we fail to realize there is no Point A to B destination.
